Panel Discussion:
Color Delivery Forms: Single Pigment Dispersion, Liquid Color, Color Masterbatch, Compound, Dry Blend

Moderator:
Austin Reid-DuPont Titanium Technologies

Panelists:
Steve Goldstein-Clariant MB;
Marcel Schackmann-PolyOne;
Bruce Muholland-Ticona;
Dennis Meade-Techmer PM

The Color and Appearance Division, as a part of its ongoing goal of providing valuable information regarding the coloration of plastics, has developed a panel discussion on Color Delivery Systems for the 2011 RETEC in Lombard, IL. There are many ways in which color may be imparted to polymeric materials, and four of these – Masterbatch, Liquid Color, Color Compounds, and Dry Blends – have been selected as topics for this Discussion by the conference organizers. The organizers believe that this broad array of available methodologies represents a strong cross-section of the majority of color applications in our industry.

The session will be moderated by Austin Reid, Jr. of DuPont Titanium Technologies. The four industry experts who comprise the panel are Steve Goldstein (Clariant Masterbatch), Marcel Schackmann (PolyOne), Bruce Mulholland (Ticona), and Dennis Meade (Accel Color/Techmer PM). These individuals will provide a definition of each of the aforementioned Color Delivery Systems, typical synonyms used in the industry, typical applications for the systems and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Questions from both the Moderator and from the audience will be addressed by the panelists. The Division believes this forum will provide valuable information regarding the utilization of various approaches to the coloration of plastics for conference attendees.

Panel Discussion
Supply Chain Risk Assessment
Moderator:
Larry NItardy-President, ComAssist

Panelists:
Brian West-VP Color Technology-Techmer PM
Mark Vincent-VP Sales, Mkting, Technical-Dominion Colour
John Andrews-CEO-Keystone Aniline

Powered by the changing landscape of the plastics colorant supply chain over the last several years, many companies have found their operations short on raw materials, and challenged to make routine commitments to their clients. From natural disasters, off-shore sourcing and stretching delivery distances, and reductions in inventories, the supply chain has impaired share competitiveness and hampered chances to expand businesses.
This session will amplify our understanding of what the new risks in today’s supply chain model are, take a look at some specific issues supply chain challenges have caused in the recent past, and recommend some steps to minimize the impact of these new risks going forward.
